There's always one incredible person who has made difference in our lives. Here's a collection of narratives celebrating thousands of Singaporean heroes.
My grandfather took good care of us when my father left us. He was my father figure and my best friend. He also offered his CPF money to sent me to university. When I graduated from university, i was told to invite 2 person to the ceremony, i invited my grandfather and my mum. On my speech, when i mentioned about my grandfather, he actually cried in the ceremony, which brought me to tears too. He witnessed my biggest acheivement. Because of the love from my grandfather and mum. I am able to be here.
My maths teacher Ms. Lim is my hero. Despite losing her mother to cancer over a year ago, she still ensures the class is held properly and everyone has an understanding of the subject. Even through all the emotional distress she faces, she finds a way to continue to teach and mentor the class. I really look up and respect her perseverance and thus she is my hero.
A mother’s love is very selfless and unconditional. This is something that I only truly understand now that I am a mother myself. I used to think that my mummy is too 'free' and too naggy. She is always waiting up for me; always asking me where are my whereabouts; wondering if I am well; did I eat well etc... Now, I find myself asking my daughter the same things. Sorry, mummy, I never understand your worries till now. You are my hero for always being there for me, for being such a great mother to me.
My mother has always been always the pillar of support for our family. She never ever neglect us just because she had housework to do or that she is tired after a long day of work. This is very loving act even though she has to face many people attitude at her work. I love you mom!
Dick lee is an inspirational hero. Through his music, he binds Singaporeans together. Music is like him telling a story. Dick lee used music to break barriers so that every Singaporeans become one people one nation one singapore. Every year I will look forward seeing him perform or sing his songs during NDP.
My mum works as a store man. She is always busy from work. I was born in this world with low immunity so I can get sick very easily. There was once I was so sick, my mum specially took MC from her work so that she can take care of me. She cannot take any off days as off days to her are very precious and she uses them for me, my siblings and father’s birthday. Thanks mum for all these you have done for me.
My father is a superhero. My sister and I were having mobility difficulties since we were young, but my father never give up on us. He races against time, working hard for the family as he wants to give us a better lifestyle. Father, we understand how much effort you have put and your hard work. You are the toughest father ever! Always save the best for us. Thanks for bringing us up, giving us the encouragement and support. Thank you for your hard work! We are lucky to have such a great father like you! Wishing you a healthy and happy life. We love you forever!
My grandfather enjoys sports. On weekends, he would drag us out of bed to get ready for our morning exercise even if we did not feel up to the weather. His love for sports sees him enduring all pains in his knees as he aged and participate in the yearly Standard Chartered marathons. He is a living inspiration for many.
Mummy takes great care of the family, often bringing back good food whenever she knocks off from work. Being in her presence always makes me feel comfortable and warm, and she never fails to put on a smile despite being drained from work. She is what inspires me to study hard and repay her for her care.
The church is a place I frequent, and that is where I met Sister Beatrice. Being a widow and childess, I have not many to turn to. My friends are aged as well. So, whenever I need to talk to someone, I would look for her. She will always be there for me, with her listening ears and advice. Her kindness and genuineness inspires me and to me, she is my hero.
This year, my father is participating in the Standard Chartered with me. He is in his 60s. It was actually a harmless bet that he lost during Christmas, i thought he will not honor it but to my surprise he did!! My father made a commitment to fulfill it and decided that it is something he want to do in his life time, he is truly an inspiration to me. We will be training together and crossing the finishing lime together as well.
When things are going well, we tend to take things for granted. One day my father business failed we almost lost our home. My father didn't give up and slowly paid off all his debts and started a new business again, he is a man of strong determination.
